Generally speaking, Safe Families for Children has two kinds of partnerships with states and localities:
- Alliance Sites are a part of the national organization.
- Affiliate Sites are organizations that implement Safe Families for Children, along with other programming.
Wisconsin has been an exception for a number of years - we have had a “hybrid relationship” with the national organization. Most notably, this means that our staff members are employed by the national organization. This has allowed the WI team to join a larger pool for health insurance, liability coverage, payroll, and HR. 1000 Generations was created as a fiscal agent so that the Wisconsin team could have some measure of autonomy and lever of influence in how dollars raised in Wisconsin were put to use.
We’re now in a position where moving to an affiliate relationship is a possibility. We would like to discuss this with the board - get a national perspective from Nicole, and hammer out next steps.
